Thanks for pointing out the lack of Dolby vision support for 4k blu ray rips. That was literally the reason I was considering this lol. Also the comparison to Panasonic UB820 was great, had that on my mind too lol

Love that you checked out Zidoo and Zappti. Not many English reviewers have done both. Hope you get to check out their UHD-3000 at some point. I am running their UHD-2000 with 36 TB (18 TB X 2 WD Red HDs) and am happy but their UHD-3000 has the same Realtek RTD1619DR this Zidoo has. Fun times.

Zidoo wins ultimately for picture quality, hands down, the shield plays everything u through at it and has android tv app, so best solution is own both

Do you still have this player? If yes, has the problem with black levels been corrected via firmware updates? Thanks.

Just Bought a Z9X Pro, and was worried about movie scraping. Your video made me stay cool about this feature. Thanks.

I just bought one - most of the issues this review notes have been fixed or can be addressed in settings, like subtitles is a setting, and you can set them to off. (I have no idea if that was available at the time of this review, but the reviewer seems to know his stuff, so I'd assume he would have found it. In any case, it's there now and works.) Pic looks as good as my Oppo UDP-203 and is not remotely washed out like it was in this video - again, 3 years have gone by so I'm assuming Zidoo fixed all these things. Coming from using an Nvidia Shield 2019 for most playback, this is a very nice step up. HDMI CEC is a little wonky, the Shield's is a lot more seamless when used with an AVR/PrePro, I had to mess with CEC settings before I found a combination that doesn't do unwanted stuff. Learn how to name your videos properly if you want the player to identify them automatically properly - it works great when everything lines up with TMDB.

I have the Zappiti cinema edition. It’s definitely the best picture quality I’ve ever seen but it’s not the smoothest GUI (speed) nor does it do forced subs (as you mentioned).
Every player has its strengths and weaknesses, hopefully we’re closer to the perfect “all-in-one box.”
Thank you for this review. (From Canberra, Australia)

Has the Dolby Vision Profile 7 issue for 4K Blu-ray ISO playback been corrected on this device or newer Zidoo devices?

The portion of the video where you added sources was too hard to see as to how it was done? Are those local network sources or do you have an external USB drive connected directly to the Zidoo?

I was pretty much sold until I saw that washed out image of Sully. If Zappiti can provide something that supports Dolby Vision and HDR10+, I'd probably shoot for that instead. I assume they'd support this very soon down the line since their (Zappiti's) primary purpose is offering a solid media player for an esoteric crowd (aka everyone here lol). Hopefully Zidoo can adjust the black levels by the time of this writing.

Using the Z9X, X9s, and X8. They are buggy but for the feature set, they are hard to beat. I only use them to view my own mkv ripped content. For streaming, you're better off with an NVIDIA Shield, Roku, Fire Stick, or Apple TV to compliment it. I use the Shield and Roku myself.

i go back and forth between infuse and my oppo 203. both are excellent. infuse gives me cover art, specs, etc. oppo just plays everything within backup folder (dolby vision, hdr10, atmos, etc)

A head to head comparison of the Zidoo UHD3000 and Zappiti would be great since I’m trying to decide which one to buy

Shane, I'm at a loss and really could use your advice. I have purchased the Zidoo Z9X PRO to play my 4K UHD backups, but it crashes every time I try to load the movies. I returned it and the replacement device did the exact same thing. So I plan to buy the Z9X (not PRO) hoping that it will be able to play my BDMV full 4K backups without crashing, but you mentioned in your video that the Z9X doesn't play Dolby Vision for 4K Bluray backups, only MKV file format? So I don't know what device to use to play my BDMV 4K backups, given the Zidoo Z9X PRO doesn't work for me for some reason. Please help!
