So cool of you to do a review of my car only difference is mine is the 5 speed. Was my daily driver till I retired. So reliable and driving it everyday was like a 30 minute vacation before and after work, a kick ass to drive.

I own the 1997 M! It's my first sports car and my first manual vehicle. Bought it off of a buddy I met last year who didn't want it anymore, got it for a nearly killer deal considering the work he got done to it before I bought it off of him. I started regularly driving it 2 months ago and I absolutely love it. Wouldn't trade it for anything else.

Great review. Had a 1994 M edition Miata in 1997 as my first car. Has it all through college
Love it. Still my favorite car ever. It was the car I learned to drive stick with. Literally picked it up at the dealer and couldn’t even drive it home, had to have my dad drive it home.

this video just changed my dream car which hasn't changed since I was 7 years old. But actually affordable!
I WILL own one of these within the next 3 years. Now just to find a well preserved one.

I've had a 93 for about 8 months now. Coming from a seriously souped up 95 Prelude (previous owner spent way too much money on the engine but the thing was actailly fast, just fwd) and a 2002 BMW 330i (maybe the best straight 6 they ever made, buttery smooth) I thought I'd hate the thing, but bought it because it was cosmetically perfect and very cheap, along with the fact that the 1st gens are gonna begin to rocket in price. I can't lie, the engine is anemic and it's begging for a 6th gear for highway use (70 mph and it's spinning at 4k) but as soon as I got to toss it around some seriously twisty roads I fell in love. The Prelude had obligatory coilovers, magnesium 17s, and other suspension goodies, so it handled great for a fwd. The 330 had the sports package from factory and it was, thankfully, all stock. I still recall the first time I bombed it into a tight right hander at speed, hooting and hollering at how great it was. The Miata is, thankfully, all stock and taking it through twisties made me forget all about the BMW. It's just so easy to drive fast when cornering. Totally effortless. Obviously weighing 1100 lbs less than the BMW is where the magic comes from.

I'm very tempted to do the Rocketeer Jaguar AJ30 swap, and if I grenade the engine I will, but stock NAs with the 1.6l are an endangered species, so I'll hold off for now. Plus I can pretty much drive it flat out everywhere if I want to. More fun to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow.

Very well done. You know your Miatas, or did some excellent research. I have a 95M and love it. The NA Miata is proof that straight-line power isn't everything! As Jay Leno said, it's not a fast car, it's a swift car. The curvier the road, the more fun will be had.

Someone else already mentioned that the AT did not actually come with the sought-after Torsen LSD (TORque SENsing). But for street driving, lack of an LSD isn't going to make a huge difference.

The m edition is really something usually that diff is for manual cars only, to put that in a auto box is pretty cool

Nicely done. A lot of 90's factory radios had AM Stereo (look it up) included. AM Stereo sounds awesome!!! Unfortunately, almost no music on AM anymore, let alone in stereo. My 98 F-150 still has the stock radio and it has AM Stereo. Friend's 97 Miata has AM Stereo.

We had a 1994 M Edition at one point. Loved it but eventually was time to move on to the next car. The main drawback was just how loud it is on the highway.

5:17 Kinda misleading here, no automatic 1.8 NA miata came with a Torsen LSD from the factory. All auto 1.8s are open diff
