Did you know this about National Treasure? This shot where Ben and Riley are talking on the steps looks normal, but there’s actually some major VFX on screen. Can you tell where? On the day of filming, the reflecting pool in front of the Lincoln Memorial was completely drained for maintenance, so the water you see was all added digitally later.

When I went to visit in back in March of 2020, right before the world shut down btw, we also found pool to be drained, but my friend and I got to rent out some bikes to ride around the city and visit the White House, so we go to actually ride INSIDE the Reflecting Pool! It was pretty cool 😃

I saw a video once that said CGI ain’t ruining movies like most people say. Most CGI is done really well and you never notice it if the film makers did their job right

It’s only when you see and notice the bad CGI that is breaks Emerson and can ruin the film but more often then not you just don’t notice the good CGI like this

A few years ago I visited …. I was nearly caught in a water spout…. I was almost pulled into the pool… My umbrella snapped and I got soaked from the heavy rain. I had to hide inside the Lincoln Memorial for 45 minutes for the storm to clear
