Europe COVID hospitalisations rise as workforce is stretched

Global coronavirus cases have been hitting new daily records.
The US is the worst affected, accounting for nearly one in three cases in the world.
Europe is also seeing an enormous rise in cases, with Italy, France, Spain and the UK all reporting record daily infections in the past week.
Stricter containment measures mean New Year's celebrations in these countries will be muted.

Give it a rest. Cases are going up (or already declining) but hospitalization has not increased significantly, and that too will soon peak. Omicron is a storm in a teacup.

I will share how this sort of Mendacity is arrived at:
The government calls the Hospital Manager and orders them to close down 1, 2, 3 Floors of Beds.
The general Public is not told of such things.
That's how the government can lie about the number of beds appears to be full.
Lets say the a Hospital has 575 Beds as 100% capacity.
Let's say there are 375 in-patients currently.
So that means it is 66% full.
The government calls the Manager of the Hospital ordering them to crowd up Patients to other floors and then close down 2 Floors of Beds, (which let us say is 150 Beds suddenly disappear).
575 Beds -150 Beds = 425 Beds become Hospital capacity.
375 Beds out of 425 Beds = 89% full suddenly.
The hospital went from being 66% full to 89% full through a brief phone call.
There you go that's how it is done.

My observations: It's fortunate that many many countries in the world have resisted from blindly following (western-styled) democracy model, in which individualism is prioritized and the whole society fabric is loosely connected. This pandemic has proven one major point: societies embracing collectivism can deal much better with the pandemic.

All we ever hear about is the NHS 'overwhelmed', 'under pressure' etc etc yet politicians spend our money on their mates ( track and trace, dodgy PPE contracts) and not increasing the number of beds for patients.Its a disgrace.
