Luca Iaconi-Stewart can spend years making a paper plane. That might seem like a long time, but his paper planes aren’t made from a single sheet of paper, and they aren’t your average paper planes. This meticulous designer crafts astonishingly detailed replicas of 777 airplanes using manila folders, glue and an X-Acto knife. That’s it. It’s a painstaking process—Luca builds everything from the hundreds of seats inside the plane to intricate moving parts, including landing gear. Now boarding Luca’s paper 777.

The most fascinating thing about this story is the complete surrender to his passion. He wants to do this. This is what he wants to spend his time in. Sure he has a job but it feels like his jobs role is to give him food, shelter, manila folders, glue, and exacto knife. It paid for the table I'm sure too. But outside that, I sense that he fully commits to his craft. At least that is what his work suggests.

A lot of us live with constant anxiety whether or not we are making use of our time wisely. He teaches us to let go of that and just be who you are and make no apologies for how you are spending your time. His work is a true reflection of himself. True, humble, simple (like a manila folder) but consciously and skillfully arranged in a certain way that creates a mind boggling artistic expression. He lives his life more from the inside-out rather most of us who look outward-in to define ourselves. Fascinating.

I used to entertain myself as a mid-teen back in the mid 80's by also building vehicles with cardboard, tape, liquid paper, glue and straws. I used to make cars, airplanes and helicopters. All got lost with time. But I still have a lone survivor from 1987. A cardboard bus.

And holy heck! that very detailed functioning articulated work. *hats off* Very impressive!
