Outstanding - I grew up in the GARBC - we weren't militant- but I was of the opinion that unless you were a Baptist - then you probably were not saved. What changed me? I joined the US Army. Arrived in Germany and our chaplain was a Methodist - a Methodist who preached the Gospel Since then I have worked in Christian Radio - met pastors and churches of many denominations -What a change in my life!

I graduated from the oldest Pentecostal school in the world called Holmes College of the Bible in Greenville, S.C. It was a very conservative fundamental college which believed in the inerrancy of Scripture. Many Pentecostal preachers sent their children to Dr. Harold Sightler’s church’s daycare because we knew they would get sound teaching. I also sent my little boy there. The church was called Tabernacle Baptist. During Jim Baker’s public failure at the PTL Club our children were graduating from kindergarten there and the day of their graduation ceremony Dr. Sightler said publicly in our presence that his church didn’t have an ounce of Pentecostal blood in them. He stereotyped all Pentecostal’s which were probably over 500 million in 1987 and put us in the same category as Jim Baker. I thought this was very unfair and humiliating. Thankfully I worked with a preacher who was attending Dr. Sightler’s Bible College and he embraced me as a brother and a friend. After my graduation I took my first pastorate at a Pentecostal Freewill Baptist church in Eastern N.C. He came there and preached and told me that if the IFB at Tabernacle found out that they would kick him out of college and possibly ex-communicate him. I detest the extreme health and wealth and prosperity gospel of many Pentecostal’s and Charismatic’s but you just can’t lump every church or person in the same category. It is very judgmental and unbiblical and it needs to stop.

I grew up IFB, and before I went to seminary gave my parents a heart attack from telling them that I was going back to the SBC. I did some reading and studying on Jack Hyles, and the IFB movement. I knew in my heart that I could no longer stay in that camp

I'm a independent fundamental, KJV-only soul winning street preaching baptist, and I'm glad you said this.

This is probably the most authentic and best video on the issue

Denomination doesn't save Christ does which is why I call myself a Christian first that just happens to go to a Baptist Church

Great job. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples. . . . If you divide the flock and arrogantly say don’t come near me.

Jonathan, I really appreciate your take on this subject. So many people have repeated the divisive and immature errors of the Corinthian church that Paul addressed, i.e. "I am of Paul! I am of Apollos! I am of Christ!" Paul emphasized that saving faith in Jesus Christ is the main thing as he wrote in 1 Corinthians 2:2, “For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified." God bless you, brother.

Excellent! Thank you. So sad to see the number of casualties from friendly fire.

A message to ask IFB: Rejoin the church. No, not the Roman "Church" but the other confessional doctrinal one with the gospel and no Darbyist works-decisionism

I have a VERY similar story. I am through with the “IBF” toxicity. I praise God that my father is away from that and now I can read the NKJV without feeling like a heretic

Listening to this video, it really tells me how messed up and tribalistic the Church has become. Call me old fashion, I call myself a Christian, I study my bible and I pray with the Lord. I dont understand all the arguing and back and forth.

To me, a man’s label for a denomination is just that. A man made label. Accepting Jesus as your personal savior, repenting of your sins and believing Christ died on the cross, and was raised in three days to dance to the right hand of the father is the most important thing. Next, having a changing of the mind and heart and living each day to glorify God is more important, along with your sanctification, which will never end until you’re in heaven. Find a body of believers that follow only the Scriptures and not on “feelings”. Your relationship with God is everything.

I just listened to the latest episode on the Holy Post podcast called Why Fundamentalism is Growing and David French talk about how fundamentalism is a psychology not a theology and is actually not what you believe but how you hold those beliefs.

It’s a very interesting conversation.

I have friends and family that are nondenominational, general and particular Baptist, Presbyterian, Lutheran, Methodist, seventh day Adventist, Pentecostal, Catholic, and Orthodox. Am I missing any? Maybe idk. For me to see any one of them as a brother or sister in Christ it is the same metric across the board. Jesus of Nazareth is God in the flesh, and that He died to forgive the sins of those who put their faith in Him. Do you confess with your mouth and believe in your heart that Christ is Lord?

There is many camps with IFB Churches. The landmark ones have issues, same with the Anderson group and ruckman group and BJU camp.
I grew up in Australia in the IFB Church which is very moderate but big on Bible doctrine. I know live in the US and it can be difficult to find the type of IFB Church I'm wanting. The music standards and preaching in some churches have gone downhill a bit. There's good churches out you just have to find them.
