Regular Car Reviews: 1995 Buick Roadmaster Sedan

This 8th generation, B-body variant was resurrected from the dead in 1991 after being shelved in 1958. The Roadmaster of old was a classic of those gangster movies where fat guys with power ask when they can expect to be paid. But in 1991, the reintroduction got rid of the classic styling that made the Roadmaster such an icon in the first place. Hell, the 90s version introduced a fake wood grain finish, as if that lousy paneling would bring back nostalgia. It was like a faded hooker trying to recapture the glory days when she could charge $100 for a handjob and not get laughed out of the Cracker Barrel parking lot.

I actually like american names like Roadmaster, it certainly beat the random number+letter combinations that are everywhere today

This kind of shit needs to be more of a thing. Grandma/Grandpa cars with monsters secretly under the hood. The best deception to see on the road.

"suvs have character to them" literally every modern suv ever has the same god damn side profile

This car is like the fucking Millennium Falcon. Big and unassuming on the outside, powerful and fast on the inside. I would use the cammaster on my Kessel Run.

this car is like that old, pissed off war veteran that can't stand young people

Why are Sedans fading in the wake of SUVs?

What is a modern Sedan?

A modern Sedan has low ground-clearance, to improve aerodynamics (and imitate more stylish custom-cars.)

A modern Sedan has tiny gun-slit windows to improve side-impact protection, you know.. because they're lower to the ground (and to imitate more stylish custom-cars).

A modern Sedan has a tiny trunk, or a tiny and awkward opening to access said trunk, or both; to reduce rear overhang (and imitate more stylish custom-cars.)

An OLD Sedan, has ground-clearance (like a modern SUV), has big windows (like a modern SUV), has plenty of cargo-space (like a modern SUV).

The question isn't 'why is everybody going to SUVs and abandoning Sedans?' .. it should be 'WHY did manufacturers stop building Sedans RIGHT?'

I love it when people take boring cars and turn them into complete hooligans.

What's funny is I find this review to be hilarious. So I'm driving home tonight in my B body 1995 Caprice Wagon and I'm thinking of this review, especially the part where he says "No one expects this barge to be fast, especially RSX owners." And what appears a moment later? An RSX, a red light and an open stretch of road. So I give him the business. He never sees it coming. He will spend months, maybe years wondering why, how, did that massive Chevrolet with white wall tires blow the doors off my car. Why did it sound so mean doing so?

the only way that thing could be cooler is if it was a wagon with the "wood" paneling

Holy shit man. Times are so different in 2022 than 2015. It's as if a generation has given way.

This is the most absurd vehicle I've ever seen, and it's brilliant.
