Plus guns could be purchased at hardware stores, department stores, ect . . . no background checks, no waiting periods, no finger prints. Many schools had gun safety class and shooting teams for competition.

Young men are growing up in hopeless, failing households with hopeless social lives, hopeless prospects, and hopeless parental guidance. Families are broken by the redistribution of wealth from middle class workers and that brokenness manifests in all manner of antisocial behavior. This has gotten out of control since wages broke with inflation and productivity in the 70s.
