They need to hold the truck driver accountable for this. They had plenty of time to call that number and notify the railroad company.

It would have been super easy to avoid this they're moving this heavy load they're crossing train tracks it's a known fact that they get stuck on the tracks get the schedule of the train before trying to cross it give you enough time to notify the train authorities and stop the train.
This is a complete fail on the Senior management at that trucking company

Thoughts and prayers are with the families.

KVEW you could have easily educated EVERYBODY watching this news report HOW to prevent this from happening by adding a picture of the little blue sign that is at EVERY railroad crossing that has a direct 1-800 number to the railroad to inform them that the crossing is blocked. Try doing some more thorough reporting next time……it might save a life.

I'm tired of these trucks not knowing what they're doing

Oversized loads like this should be coordinated with the railroads that the route will cross. This was completely avoidable, and it is inexcusable that it wasn't prevented.

How dose this happen. Where's the oversight.

Live in Midland Tx and railroad accidents are fairly common. Not sure the circumstances of this but it is easy for trailers to bottom out on the tracks where you can't move. That and inexperienced drivers in an area where they are in heavy demand. Prayers to the families of the deceased.

The workers died because the transporting company did not complete their homework properly and miscalculated. I hope they have insurance…

And they say the train always wins, that it’s so heavy it smashes right through everything like a knife through butter. Well not this time! That reinforced steel concrete pipe lifted the front locomotive well over five feet into the air and totalled it. The cab crumpled like an accordion.

trucks and some trailers have a levelling valve when the trailer touches the ground or train track both valves on the truck and trailer starting to let air out when that happens the truck loses weight and traction, that’s why we need a switch to give our trucks and trailers extra air in a situation like this

Make railroading safer? How about not stopping on tracks? Those guys on the train literally saw that coming a mile away

I just dont understand how nobody could call the RR. Even as a passerby seeing that stuck on the tracks i would have called.

As a native Texan I can say without doubt that the lousy politicians in Austin have always turned a blind eye towards the trucking companies. The feds need to threaten to pull federal funds if they do not address the problem.
