Anonymous CFB Coach Criticizes the Steve Sarkisian Hire... Is He Right???

In Athlon Sports' 2021 college football preview magazine, an anonymous coach had some pretty critical thoughts about Texas hiring Steve Sarkisian. Was he right? What does Sark need to do to ensure success during his tenure in Austin?

So far Mack Brown was the only one that could juggle the donors and be the coach too. Everyone else has failed. I do believe the donors have too much say so just because they have the money. Good luck Coach dealing with all those donors.

When I hear “anonymous“, that automatically tells me that you don’t have enough backbone to stand up for what you say. If you’re going to throw shade at least be man enough to say yeah I said it! This is nothing but a rival coach being salty and petty, but doesn’t have enough character to put their name to the words they say. For that reason I couldn’t care less what this spineless coach hast to say.

This sounds like a rival team being petty. Im not a fan of anyone in that conference, just the outside looking in. Sarkisian was a great hire for Texas. It was also a textbook hire by the powers that be at Texas. No one knew who or what was going on until they announced it. Leaving the media out of the whole process was smart. With that said Texas is loaded, it is prime for Sarkisian to win immediately. Texas is top 5 in 2020 24/7 sports talent composite. Blew me away when i learned that info. Texas can win the big 12 this season i believe.

I remember hearing grumbling from the brass after blowing the 2001 big 12 championship game vs. Colorado into the 2002 season they wanted to fire Mack and hire Spurrier. Then came Vince Young and they went silent. Good stuff BK

OMG, anyone that would say all the problems of Texas were off field after Charlie Strong and Tom Herman and actually watching games and game time coaching has no credibility.

I think the CDC hire was excellent as he is a great buffer between the Donors and the Athletics Dept.

Additionally Sarks initial staff here is much stronger than the past couple coaches’ initial staffs

Completely worthless quote...and ahistorical. Folks act like Mack's top criticism wasn't his X's and O's acumen and detail. Sark is an X's and O's genius.

Mack was instrumental in crafting and exacerbating the culture at Texas. The first thing that Charlie was tasked with doing was changing the entitled, spoiled, soft culture.

He succeeded in that. Herman built on it but made the wrong coordinator hires. Sark has an elite staff...similar to Mack. That's Mack's greatest CEO ability.

Yeah BK they’re so blinded and narrow minded. To believe only one thing is true is just ridiculous. There’s so many reason why we’ve failed as a blue blood the last 10 years. I also think how we look will play a part into everything as well. If toms teams were more competent looking and how he ran his offense looked better the last few years and hired the right assistants from jump he probably still has the job. It took Mack a few years to get to 10 wins but I still loved those years.
