Annie Lennox Cole Porter Everytime We Say Goodbye

Ev'ry time we say goodbye I die a little
Ev'ry time we say goodbye I wonder why a little
Why the gods above me who must be in the know
think so little of me they allow you to go.

When you're near there's such an air of spring about it
I can hear a lark somewhere begin to sing about it
there's no love finer, but how strange the change from
major to minor...

- Ev'ry time we say goodbye.

What a beautiful, stunning rendition of the Master, Cole Porter. Giving me goosebumps as I'm writing this & listening to it. Utterly gorgeous. Wow.

I remember this from Prelude to a Kiss, a movie with Alec Baldwin and Meg Ryan. This was the best part of it.

@CAROL COCHRANE - I feel so sorry for you. You just don't get it and Cole would be the very first to tell you.

Ella's version is fine, Sarah Vaugn's is too fast, all the rest are not as nice. Annie really nails it here, without being maudlin. The piano is plenty of instrumentation; there is no need for additions, like and accordian break...Uhg!!

IMHO.
Such a good vibrato without being forced. JeZus, can this women sing and emote; she has always be one of my favorites. A bit thin when soft, but we are not talking Opera depth here. What a great, a truly great rendition. I get the chills on this and Chet Baker's version. Touche' Annie. Good job.

I also remember this from "Prelude to a Kiss".  Didn't recognize the singer at the time...seeming very haunting and beautiful.  Funny, it sounded a bit better in the background of the  movie where it was less

Could've done without the accordion solo, but otherwise an excellent and thoughtful rendition.

Nice rendition but I prefer the Natalie Cole version more. Just my opinion
