context: Fate kept bringing tinn and Gun together with both having unknown flashbacks of them being together and tinn remembered his past life where he was Heart who was a lonely deaf boy abandoned by everyone in the world but liming came into his life and brightened it with care and love but heart died suddenly due to accident leaving liming alone for the rest of his life but they met again and tinn decided to give Gun all the love he couldn't give to liming as heart and Gun realises eventually. They are Soulmates and fated too meet in every life.

The fact that both series can be parallel of each other makes it even more interesting. In MSP Tinn always helped Gun and in MC Li Ming did the same for Heart.

The whole setup of parallel past lives/present lives is tricky to pull off in a way that both makes it feel natural and believable, and makes it clear what's happening (especially to someone who might not be familiar with one or both of the series) - but you totally nailed it!

These two series were particularly difficult to contrast, because Gem and Fourth really didn't age much in between, they had undyed hair in both, and the haircuts were relatively similar at first glance. Even the clothing styles weren't hugely different. It's a lot easier if you can contrast something set in the present day with something that has drastically different costumes, like historical or fantasy.

The tinted filter definitely helped with differentiating the two, but the editing was what really sold it. The transitions were really well thought-out - it was so satisfying each time a scene in the present was paired with one that mirrored or matched it in the past.

Using the framing of "One day I want to hear you speak" was a nice setup, too. Because even if Heart does attempt to speak more in future, he's not speaking for his own sake - he's speaking for the sake of hearing people. Speech is no longer _his_ method of communication, even if he is able to utilise it to some extent. And because he can't hear himself speak, he can never be truly confident about what he's communicating.

So I like to think that what LiMing is really saying is that he wishes that one day he could hear Heart speak freely and comfortably and confidently, for Heart's own sake!

I'm such a sucker for LiMing and Heart. I watched Moonlight Chicken for Earth and Mix (since I didn't know Fourth & Gem then), but to my surprise I actually found myself getting impatient with the main storyline - I really wanted to see more of Heart and LiMing! 😆 I loved LiMing's steadfast determination to communicate/connect with Heart and bring him out of his isolation, and watching Heart come alive in response.

I haven't actually seen My School President, but after watching this I think I'll have to bump it up my watch list! 😄
