There's a tameable mechanical gorilla (A-ME-02) at the very back of a cave in Ungoro crater. It's an elite mob that scales to the player's level, so it's a little tricky to tame as a pet.

Ya know what, #1 is far more appropriate than just being a Gorilla thinking he's a monkey.
The quest in Silithus that's involved with speaking to the Dwarfs and learning about him start talking about how they had a Night Elf Priestess with them, the wife of the lead Night Elf Commander in Cenarion Hold. They were trying to investigate whatever they could about Ahn'Qiraj, and the Silithid hives in the surrounding area. And this is where we get a small hinting at our first exposure to Old Gods because the Dwarfs mention that eventually Natalia (NE Priestess) suddenly goes a bit insane and attacks them after they find a crystal of sorts. She was trying to kill the Dwarfs and take back what they found. But then Glibb apparently jumped on her face and started banging on her head and whatnot, fighting her off, and she's eventually forced to retreat, running directly to the hive they just escaped from and it confused the Dwarfs that the Silithids didn't attack her. She looked too long at the rune covered Crystal, and became the first character ingame that got corrupted by an Old God. And lorewise, nobody (or nobody we could talk with at the time) even knew C'Thun was a thing. He's been imprisoned in AQ for however many years, his influence on the Qiraji has built them up as a substantial force waiting behind the gates, and the Silithids were progressively leaking out all over Southern Kalimdor, becoming a massive problem. But for all the Cenarion Circle knew, that was the work of the Twin Emperors and General Rajaxx. Nobody, not even the Bronze Dragons, knew they were C'Thun's servants and that he was just chilling under house arrest at the bottom of the Temple. The only hint we got was Natalia being corrupted, and saying C'Thun's name on her death, which was a big unknown of gibberish at the time.

So whatever C'Thun's big major plan was in trying to corrupt a Night Elf Priestess that happened to be the wife of the leader of his current biggest opposition of forces in the Cenarion Hold... It was foiled by 'the damn monkey'. Glibb effectively put a halt to an Old God's schemes.
_(Not that Old Gods were a particularly thought out concept at the time, so its pretty underwhelming in hindsight, but at the time it was cool!)_

I imagine Grong is also a reference Gorilla Grodd from DC comics. There's also a hidden city of intelligent gorillas in DC comics as well.

When you started talking about Gargantua I was like "Yo am I about to see Crendor talk about the 15th century french novel Gargantua written by Rabelais?"

Fun fact about King Mukla, there was an expansion this year that festured different music genres for each class, and hunter got country music, and their legendary was called Mister Mukla, playing a banjo I think

I love that the gorillas in Un'Goro drop barrels (as loot) -- dorkiest donkey kong reference in the game.

My hunter used to have a mechanical gorilla as a pet. I named it Harambot.

Wow gorillas are actually really weird if you think about it. In real life humans and gorrilas are closely related bc of our relatively recent common primate ancestor, however in wow humans are robots turned into flesh by shadow magic. So despite appearing as if they should be as related to humans in the game as they are in real life, there about as closely related to the humans in wow as we in real life are to bacteria on mars. So they just evolved all these similar features completely independently, which in and of itself sounds weird but if you think about that loads of stuff in wow seems to evolve into a guy, from elementals of all kinds to energy beings everything in wow seems to default to human shape kind of like how crabs keep evolving in the real world.

Oh hey I suggested this one a while back, glad to see it. Good choices here, haven't seen some of these guys before. I had a weird fascination with WoW gorillas as a kid so I got a soft spot for them. Tsul'Kalu was one of my favorites.

hi crendor!!! fun fact! the "giblets" with turkeys you mentioned is accurate, but a horrifying fact i discovered with my grandma recently: that actually meant she was preparing a side/gravy with the turkey's heart and gizzard and liver/"unuseables" and such, but just told me it was the "neck thing turkeys have" when i was young so i would eat it. i hope i don't ruin thanksgiving gravy for you!! cheers! <3

I was soooo terrified of King Mukla when I first discovered him as an under levelled noob. He seemed like the biggest thing in the game 😂

Number 7, those were my first (one of) experience with skull/?? lvl mobs. Terrified me as a kid and probably is why I'm not fond of irl gorillas now.
