UPDATE LATE 2019!!! The clones new are $300.00 and original tech2s are $750.00+ used. Maybe a shipment from China to the U.S. marks up the original ten-fold. Lol

Bought my fine China DIRECT, for $320.00. WORKS GREAT ON MY SAAB.

If the two work the same, where can I get a good clone?

I own both a Genuine & a Clone. The difference everyone ignores is that the originals feel "heavier" than the clones. I can tell the difference as soon as I pick it up. The original has some weight to it. The Clones feel light compared to it's size. The Clones usually reboot when restarting the car. I wired in an external battery to keep my Clone from restarting after engine startup (so frustrating). I bought the Clone after my Genuine went down. Up to now, rarely use it, but after less than 6 months, a line on the screen burnt out. I found a replacement screen for about $110 on ebay, but I've found a complete Clone Kit for $315 ... so why bother repairing it. I opened up the Clone & it has a cheap isolated DC-DC converter (power supply). Over the new year, I bought another Tech2 (for backup after my Original started acting up again). This one felt light, but didn't reset after engine startup. I opened up the unit & it had an upgraded power supply! So you can replace the power supplies & fix the restart problem, but for $20 I like the external battery solution... I only had to cut 1 wire & splice into the ground wire on the Candi Module. Also, as a added benefit, you don't have to use an extra power cable on the older Pre-OBDII cars, just run off the battery.

I picked up an over seas one for less than $300 shipped. Delivered in 4 days from China. Comes with everything except the case. TIS2000 software, Candi module, adapters, power supply, etc. 32MB GM English ver 33.xx

What's funny is that GM uses the Same Company as the clone company. They just put different labels on them and up the price. GM does not make the tools, they outsource to have them made. The difference between Tylenol and Walgreen's brand. Save your money and shop around!

Vetronix is the parent company bought out by Bosch. HP and IBM made the processors for the original tech 2's that were made by Vetronix before Bosch bought them.

Interesting you said the clone does everything the original does, and guessing with a hacked TIS2000 should allow most diagnosis and repair of modules and programming parameters,

There are more differences if you pay good attention to the front label markings on the candi module and on cards, oh, yes, check out the plastic edges a bit more careful.

Hello Sir,

Do you know if this Tech2 with Globaltis will work for 2010 9-3 when I need to program new key fob?

So the Chinese cards failed on you after several uses? After that you just had to reload the software and they worked fine?

So, nobody sees he is comparing 2 absolutely different units? One is HP, another one Vetronix.

He failed to mention that the clone will reboot everytime you crank the car cause the crappy voltage regulator in it.

Comparing oranges to apples. These are two different units. One is Verotech and other is Hewlett Packard!

This "clone" you speak of IS NOT a knock-off. It was made by Vetronix Corporation, which is actually the original company that manufactured the unit.
