I started this channel because I wanted other working moms, nurses, nurse practitioner students, nursing students, and whoever else to know that you CAN do school, life and work! I'd love to hear your stories of how you combine your personal interests with your family life! You are doing great things, and I hope you remember that!

As Covid Vaccine mandates become more popular, I have a few thoughts as to what is ethically the right move here. Covid vaccination decreases spread of illness, and will decrease likelihood of transmission to patients. However the vaccine mandate may cause more nurses to leave already short staffed units, making working conditions more unsafe. And costing more lives in the end.

This was a great panel. I had to peace out at the one hour mark to go see patients, but this was very valuable. I will be watching that video and ensuring all of my children do as well.

I advocate for myself all the time. I am also a nurse and I implore people to advocate for themselves. For instance, I need to bring more than 3.4oz sunscreen in my carry on when I travel because often I can't find more sunscreen (let alone 100spf) in the remote destinations I visit. I am very susceptible to burning and blistering. I had a skin cancer scare and due to my complexion, I am susceptible to basal cell carcinoma. My doctor listened to me and wrote a note so I can show TSA. I have done this and it worked. I wish the TSA allowed people to bring more sunscreen because it is so important to prevent cancer!

Thank you for addressing this topic! I would like to suggest another on how to advocate for another person in health care, like your child or an older family member, a pet even, anybody you are responsible for. Also as a health care worker in the system. I feel it is very different than advocating for yourself, much more emotional and filled with fear, more traumatic. I feel the health care system and education are very biased towards older patients, very sad.

As a nurse can say, people die from neglect and malpractice. I have seen horrible things. You literally have to write letters, contact the patient advocates (if they exist), and pray. There appears to be more sick people that medical people and for some reason, the hospitals are cutting back on staff too (greed). So this makes it really hard on our public. If you are compliant, (even though you think that is the way to be), you will get worse care. You must find a way to express gratitude simultaneously demanding the best.

You have brought me a great deal of joy watching your videos, especially this one as a patient because on 10/21 diagnosed as an MGUS patient & my doctor retire's 7/18 of this yr became a Myeloma patient according to New doctor. He claims I was one all along + I can't seem to wake up from this "HORROR SHOW", so I definitely have a blockbuster story for you. Advocating for myself is my specialty as a patient since 2013 and I want to learn more & your videos are the perfect resource for information. I'm looking forward to hearing from you when you have free time. KEEP THE VIDEOS COMING GREAT JOB & run office we need nurse that enlighten the public.

A lot of "patients" (I hate that word. We are paying clients/customers) are having stress and anxiety during "Medical visits, exams and it's often hard to get one's thoughts together to challenge or ask/formulate questions in the exam situation and we think of things later.

This was very interesting to listen to, it has me thinking a lot.

Nearly every doctor visit since I had a very traumatizing experience at the emergency room when I was 19 or 20 has been a complete disaster, and I'm starting to wonder if I was labeled a "difficult" patient back then, and if that has been a huge part of the problem with every other horrible experience since. I have had some kind of chronic illness for 16 years, 18 if it started when I actually think it did, and I have been undiagnosed this whole time because no one will listen. I'm not even listened to when I have to see a doctor for reasons unrelated to my chronic illness.

Will one of you let me know how to proceed in researching a health advocate agency so I can find help vs inviting strangers in my home creating problems? Thank you so much!

Also, I want to thank you, u r so great to get this information to us. I'm getting to be an old lady these days. I need a health advocate for me and hubby. It seems people [especially medical] talk faster than they use to. We realize it's us slowing down we need a person we trust. I found three agencies close-by but haven't found a way to research with reviews or complaints.I would appreciate your help.

My doctor laughed when I told her my chiropractor said my back pain was from my Trapezieus muscle and he told me he couldn't help me and tell my doctor. I suffered pain for 7 months and my doctor did nothing and I told her this was "suicide PAIN !" and do something. Doctor sent me to a Physical Therapist and he said it was muscle knots in my Trapezieus muscle in my back and therapy helped me and now I know what exercises to do to maintain this problem. The damn doctor laughed I suffered

As a senior, I hate dealing with "Doctor" just out of Med School or just off Residency and their big ego heads ! Many are desrepectful, especially to seniors ! And don't refer to me with terms "Honey, Sweetheart, Dear, etc.." this is very condescending and makes me very angry. I have a name and am not feeble minded because I am a senior ! ( this goes for nurses, medical assistants, CNA's, office staff, etc....)

I am a very good advocate for myself when it comes to everything except for my sexual health and then I absolutely freeze, I’m sure I’m not alone in this
