Tough to justify for Sony when the GM lenses are so good, and AF. My 50 1.2 is as near to perfect as I've ever used, and if I want to "feel in control" as Zeiss is advertising for these lenses, well I can always switch to MF. But they do look incredible optically, that's for sure.

That’s disaster about new Otus lens! Watching the art of photography review of 50 mm 1.4 I have seen huge chromatic aberration in scene with train over bright sky even with f2.0. 9:00 in that video. So optical perfection you talking about is under doubt. You lens are not even close to Canon, Nikon or Sony primes. I think it is a disaster for Zeiss. Looks like they tried to make it cheaper and failed with it.

Here's hoping for a 21mm Distagon on RF mount. The EF version is still one of my favorite landscape lenses.

the much more novelty and desirable 100mm f1.4 isn't included. instead, zeiss re-releases two lenses at the service/commercial focal lengths that auto focus is more appreciated then put leica price tags to them. mindblowing, absolutely mindblowing.

Must be a very narrow target audience for this lens. Especially when the Nikon 85mm 1.2 is one of the highest rated IQ lenses ever, has AF, and is $400 less expensive than this Zeiss.

I don't know when I buy it... Even I don't know I can buy it one day. But I dreamed one day Otus will come for a Canon rf camera. Nyway still it's a Ferrari for me 😂

It HAS minimal, last gen better in Aberration/fringing.

Lack of autofocus is a deal-breaker for this Sony user. I will stick with my autofocus quality Sony GM, Sigma, Tamron, Viltrox, Laowa E-mount lenses . FYI, I currently shoot with A1 II, A9III, A7RV. Cheers, this is a pass for this longtime pro.
