Autoantibodies in Long COVID (update #150)

preview_player
Показать описание
We go over a report proposing a theory that many of the Long COVID symptoms can be explained by auto-antibodies (antibodies targeting the host's own body elements) that target muscarinic receptors in our body. We provide detailed examples of how different muscarinic receptors if targeted, would result in specific symptoms. The interest in this topic was borne out of a prior study that showed that vagus nerve activation could reduce auto-antibody levels.

27:32 I really like how Dr. R zeros in on causative pathways that explain symptoms. You don't get this level of explanation in most videos or podcasts. The detail is incredible and much appreciated.

The passion Dr. Raszek has for information is awesome...He almost forgot about his introduction @ 3:19, he's not looking for fame, just the truth 👏👏👏

This may be one of my favorite places you have filmed. The background is absolutely gorgeous. Thank you so much for sharing.

Very interesting and overwhelming coming from someone that is suffering from CPTSD and Long Covid. I just wish doctors could put together a treatment to stop this hell that is happening with me and millions like me. All of the studies are nice but we need treatments that will help us, please and thank you.

This explains why Amanita muscaria greatly reduced my post covid symptoms from kind of a problem in daily life, to a non issue. Nice data.

I take in what I can from your explanations and find it fascinating. It helps explain why, otherwise a healthy 65 year old, after a mild covid infection in February this year, I felt my heart racing when at rest. It was quite disturbing. Thankfully it’s resolved now. What hasn’t resolved is that my gut seems a lot more sensitive to certain foods and meals. Again, I’ve never had a problem before covid came along.

Yes. Long video. But even though I faded in and out of understanding, it was fascinating. Thank You, Doc. From the mountains of Alaska.

Diagnosed as vagus nerve (vegal vagus response)
Followed by massive CRP level.

The proposed theory that autoantibodies targeting muscarinic receptors contribute to Long COVID symptoms has significant implications for future research and the current understanding of COVID-19. This perspective highlights the need to explore the role of autoimmunity and specific receptor targets in post-acute sequelae of COVID-19, emphasizing the potential for novel therapeutic approaches such as vagus nerve stimulation.

Furthermore, the interplay between the microbiome, prevalent pathogens, and the immune response in Long COVID patients, particularly in LMICs, warrants comprehensive investigation. Understanding how microbiome composition and co-infections influence autoantibody production and disease progression could lead to more effective, context-specific treatments. Future research should prioritize identifying biomarkers for autoimmunity and developing targeted interventions to mitigate the long-term impacts of COVID-19 globally.

I can‘t imagine being exhausted from exercise! That would be my end really because exercise, intense movement is my therapy, I need it to feel ok. I really hope I never have to deal with that😱 I don‘t know how affected patients cope with this…Wishing them a lot of strength and progress in research on this condition! As well as all other patients dealing with complex long covid symptoms!
Thanks for this update!! Interesting but also scary…

Thank you, a very significant paper you presented so well. It also clarifies some of the work in ME/CFS and the direction some of the research to be taken.
