Custom Old Film Effect & Transition | After Effects Tutorial

In this After Effects Tutorial, I'll show you how to create this custom old film effect - including a transition. Using standard effects only!

► Here are the clips I used:

First, we create the film frame. Therefore we use a simple shape layer and add two "Roughen Edges" effects and a layer style to add some detail.
Then we set the film effect up. First, we colour correct the footage, then add some random up and down movement of the film frame, using a "gaussRandom" expression.
Then we make it look even older, by adding dust and scratches and grain.
Finally we add a transition.

Great tutorial, I wanted to ask if there was a way to make a preset of all this stuff so I don't have to do it every time but just once and then only adjust it. Is it possible? Thanks in advance for the reply.

Thank you for the video. I tried to link the 2nd roughen edges to the 1st roughen edges but I can't find the parent symbol to link. How can I show all the parent symbol? I can't see any parent symbol under the parent column. Thank you.

hello, m i missing something i followed all the steps and even see the effect and transition in after effctss working but when i quit go back into premier pro its the same original clip, no edit. thanks
