I really like the way this video was done. You don’t need any sound. You need to scan your instruments to figure out what is going on and what your indications need to be. This is perfect training.

Hi there!. I agree with most people; I think your voice, describing everything you're doing, makes the video much more useful for those of us who are learning. I really miss your voice.

As an IFR student I think this is helpful because I have to figure out why each step is done on my own. It’s almost like learning by doing. However I think including engine noise and radio calls would also help the learning process.

I'm still an instrument student but I would humbly say I'm an intermediate one. I have enough of a background now that I can follow the video without sound. Sure I need to pause and back up some but I would have to do it a lot more if there were sound because sound would be distracting. This way I can do my scan, anticipate what the navs are doing, correlate the comms with the plate, watching the fine tuning the heading bug in HDG mode, where to go missed based on distance from the VOR, flying the initial portion of the missed, etc. I can understand the frustration of a more beginner student but there are plenty of other instruction videos out there.

So one when executing the missed approach, how do you work out which radial to set on the HSI? do you go straight to the reciprocal of 290 (110)? Or do you just center the needle and work it out from there? Thank you in advance

Love your videos. They are remarkably valuable and instructional. Thank you. Have you previously published a video on flying a "VOR Flower" pattern to improve IFR flying precision?

Definitely ups your need for observation and scanning without voice

These videos are great for those who know what they are doing. They are a very poor learning tool for those that dont (students of IFR).
Think about it like this: you're flying with your student. You're flying a complicated ILS strictly by ground based navaids, ie: multiple waypoints identified by VOR cross-radial intersections, etc
(GPS switched off).
The whole time, you are silent, not even a report to ATC.
How well do you think the student will learn from this (and for those ready to comment on my comment, please dont pose that nonsensical response that "it depends on the student")?
I get that these videos are easier than voice, but they really dont help the people they are mostly intended for... the instrument student.
That said: as an experienced "flying guy" (40yrs, professional pilot, instructor), I absolutely LOVE these videos. They are a wonderful puzzle to watch and work out as they unfold.
I wonder if maybe you could add a second portion to these videos showing the same thing, except with sound, ie: voiceless test 1st and voice-over answer key 2nd.

To be clear: I think your'e doing a FANTASTIC job with your videos. I routinely send students to your site and BoldMethod. You two are standouts in the industry IMO.

I know voice overs take more time to do but the no sound version isn't useful.

Sorry, generally love your videos, but I do not like this at all. Background: I was looking to this video to instruct me. I feel like I didn’t learn anything. If, however, the purpose of the video was to figure out what you were doing based on previously being trained on VOR approaches then perhaps this is valuable for some. Just my two cents.
