Audacity now has a plugin called RMS Normalize which only raises the RMS without affecting the other numbers. Extremely useful.

what would best fix a set of varied backing tracks -minus 2nd guitar vocals, for live peformance.? Used mp3 gain as a first attempt-good, but want something that will equalise the whole set better? is the RMS effect better for this?
