🦉📖 *...The afternoon’s snowfall didn’t seem that heavy, but it kept falling with such relentless steadiness as the hours passed that by evening it was piled high, and glittering pillowy mounds covered the sidewalks and stoops of the city. You had been out walking in it all day, getting colder and colder, determined to see all the sights you had planned for your trip. Finally, as the streets settled into a blue twilight, you returned to your hotel. A hot shower and some fresh clothes later, and you were feeling rosy and toasty. Why not head down to the little coffeehouse on the first floor? A hot drink—maybe cocoa—would be the only thing that could make this cozy evening cozier. The coffeehouse is aglow with Christmas lights and a big, warm fire crackles in the hearth. You settle with your drink into a soft armchair with a view out the big picture windows to the street and the glowing windows of the brownstones opposite. From your perch, you can see that the blanket of snow has slowed the normally bustling city to a crawl. The only movement comes from the occasional taxi rolling carefully down the slushy pavement, and a few pedestrians here and there hurrying home through the cold. You see a couple carrying a last-minute Christmas tree between them down the sidewalk, and this makes you smile. You hope, as you sit in your little Christmas wonderland, that they are off to make a little Christmas wonderland of their own...*

PLEASE let me be my kid self again, lying on the carpet facing the fire with a book of fairy tales or a fat Christmas colouring book and a record player! I want this to be my house! I adore the colours, the warm yellow-peach light (you nailed it), the illustrated look of the houses across with the blues, pinks and purples outside, the way the snow's falling. Everything is perfect. I just need a dog and cat flanking me and a couple of candy canes.

Happy 1st of December everyone! This video really did come at the right time. I'm at the end of my study abroad semester right now, thousands of miles away from my family and our usual yearly holiday traditions, feeling bittersweet about the ending of this experience. It's been a wonderful, if very out-of-the-ordinary, fall and winter season for me so far, so having a new one of these videos to watch to keep me company while I work on writing and studying for my finals is such a comfort.
