This is so sad beyond words! You can see Harambe looking around to try and help the boy, not harm him. Gorillas are one of the most gentle animals on the planet and wouldn't hurt the boy intentionally. Yes, sadly the action had to be taken but why not dart him instead of killing him!

I was there. The gorilla, Harambe, was protecting the little boy. People were screaming and yelling while the boy was in the pit. All that screaming agitated Harambe and he stood over the boy after getting him out of the water pit. A very sad day in Cincinnati. Many people were crying and upset about the killing. The little boy was taken to a hospital and was not hurt and released 3 hours later.

He was trying to help the best way he knew how. He got the child to safety, dry land, and was sitting by him waiting for humans to collect him. He was killed instead. Shame on us.

That is sad, the gorilla wasn't trying to hurt the child, it was caring for it.
The parents SHOULD have been taking better care of him. So very sad that they put that beautiful giant down like that ! They should have put the parent in jail for negligence !!!
