⭐ Olympian Nathan Chen returned back to America after his historic Olympic run in Beijing earlier this month. Nathan was a six-time national champion and three-time world figure skating champion and the only thing missing from his resume was that elusive gold medal that evaded him at his first run at the Olympic games back in 2018 at the Pyeongchang winter games.

Back on Tuesday, Nathan came to New York City to make the rounds and share his medal with the media doing interviews. Most notably The Today Show on NBC which is the same network that carries the Olympics for the United States exclusively since the 2002 winter games from Nathan’s hometown of Salt Lake City, Utah. That same city is trying to win a bid for the 2030 or 2034 Winter Olympics.

The 22-year-old gold medalist talked about his win and experience on The Today Show only to be shocked by the appearance of his mother Hetty Wang live on morning television as he hadn’t seen his mom since departing for Beijing, China last month and it was a special reunion as the two did the rest of the interview together.

This is a great Olympic story because Nathan truly deserved that medal and a great redemption story but his mom is the real MVP as I heard it was tough for them financially to give Nathan the skating lessons needed to get him to this point. Olympic parents are the true MVPs as I thank all of them for making those sacrifices.
