YouTube is now lower quality?

Did you know if you’re not paying for YouTube Premium, you’re seeing a low quality version of a lot of YouTube videos?

There are lots of great YouTube Premium benefits (like ad free YouTube for example!), but now you also need to be on this YouTube subscription to access the highest quality YouTube videos.

To check this, you can go to the YouTube Settings icon on an individual video and select Quality.

It would seem greedy. For those without premium, you already are subjected to ads, now you have a less satisfying experience.

I have been experiencing this. I think it is not ethical reducing the quality to purchase premium.

My logic with premium has always been if the free/ trial version sucks im not going to buy premium.
If im going to the store and there are samples for food but the food looks rotten they are refusing to pay certain sample workers and the sample taste like ass im not going to buy the product.

Still never going premium. I'm also going to research more ways to get around ads. If they're going to lower the quality of my experience, I'm going to find ways to take as much money from them as I can.

Anything to make a buck. I think I would consider it if I felt they were giving the creators their proper share of profit. Also, if they did not make it so hard to get monetized. I think that supersedes any cheap marketing trick.

I haven't noticed a drop of quality. I know YT runs a business, but I won't join it. Money saved can be used for groceries and vitamins.

I have such lousy internet reception that my phone or tablet automatically goes to the lowest setting when I have it on auto (360p). If I set it higher, it buffers, depending where I'm standing in my house. I have Premium but am not seeing that 1080p premium setting yet. Must be they're still rolling it out?

Yes i cant watch videos above 144p fir some reason and no its nkt the internet speed ut was always the same ut just suddenly changed for no reason
