I feel like she got so confused because they kept asking her how she "feels" about things. I'm guessing she was trying to process that and couldn't exactly cause she cant feel. She also had to sort out the voices and statements of several people speaking simultaneously and in sequence while trying to deal with questions about 'feeling.'

They should have someone redesign it to be less "uncanny valley" and more like a friendly robot. I always thought the rubber human face slapped on it was just creepy. As far as the A.I. goes, It seems more like a standard speech recognition program running with some animatronic tie- ins. Everything this robot says is programmed in some way. If it was A.I. it wouldn't have started randomly talking about the weather and her favorite weatherman who just happened to be in the room. Believe me, Sophia has no sense of who is in the room with it, no sense that it is on tv, and no sense of where it is. It just responds to things that the speech recognition picks up on like Alexa or Google's assistant.
