Why Capitalism NEEDS the Government

Could a capitalist society work without a government? Of course not, here’s why:

First, in a capitalist society, survival of the fittest is what rules, and as a result monopolies will always emerge. Either through acquisitions or because of the barriers to entry.

Second, a capitalist civilization will always suffer under the tragedy of the commons. This refers to the depletion or degradation of a shared resource due to the self-interest of individuals or groups. When each independent player, has an incentive to use as much of the resource as possible to maximize their own benefit, it leads to overuse and emptying of said resource.

That is why capitalism needs the government to function.

Capitalism is great. Just as long as it isn’t entwined and entrenched in institutions of the state.

Anything you said literally applies to every aspect of life and form of governance/ trade system and is not even close to being a result or symptom of capitalism
