This guy is one of my high school teachers! Honestly would've loved to talk gaming PC's and anything tech-related when I was still in school, would've made things so much more fun

I really love how AMD includes decent coolers that can actually handle their respective processors when used that stuck settings. Unlike intel which includes below the minimum for almost all of their budget line ups.

Given the 5600X is a direct replacement for the 3600X the very least AMD could have done was include the Wraith Spire.

I think you should run this test in a case and with GPU also loaded to get realistic temperatures.I tried the stock and actually it was ok when running prime or other cpu test. It was when I tried gaming it actually went up to 95c. I put more fans to my case and no use. It is the combination of GPU and CPU generating heat that makes the stock really lack cooling power. I went to buy Noctua NH-U12S and now it goes to 68c tops(I even took some case fans out to reduce wind noise). But you are 100% correct recommending to replace the stock.

Can you test this CPU with a Wraith Prism RGB Cooler? got one of those spare and want to know if it is good enough.

Believe it or not, apparently these coolers have gotten even worse now, in some cases running over 65 at idle, and not even being able to keep the temps below thermal protection at a full load

I think this was one of my disappointments with the launch. I think they should have added the spire or just left it without the cooler. Still a good processor, but a few dollars more could have made it better. Would be nice to see a Spire on it if you have one lying around. If not, I can send you one, pretty sure I have a few in the closet.

Great video and to the point! I run the stock cooler for now with a Pro 4750G, and a 1060 under cinebench load it hits 80-85º but doesn't down clock not sure the max temp before this happens. The one thing I don't like is the low tone this cooler makes in the case at idle, that is annoying as hell in a quiet room like mine, I plan on water cooling it later.

Can you please make a noise test? And test under gaming condition? Can you try to install the wraith prism cooler on it?

This CPU beats up on my I7 8700K @ 4.9GHz in Cinebench R20. I got a score of 3902 vs. your first score of 4353.

Due to the absence of information regarding real world use of this cpu, I will leave this here. Yes the cpu runs hot. With the stock cooler you will run about 65c idle, 91-95 under load. You need a better cooler for this cpu. I have a high airflow setup and the stock cooler, just ordered a DeepCool cooler because the stock one isn’t good enough. Not a surprise there given the stock cooler has aluminum contact points.

With an arctic duo 34 will keep this cpu quite cool, since it runs even cooler than the current 3600 and 3600x which the arctic cooler does great on those 2 cpus.

This cooler is good enough for all real world applications. You only can get minor improvements, if you run theoretical applications like stress tests.

You got a 5600x on Nov 5th? What kind of wizardry is that?

I recently bought ryxen 5 / 5600x and I would like to ask you if the stock cooler is acceptable for a pc that does not use oc. Why do I say this because I use pc for fun not for overclocking. I use a graphics card taken recently and average MSI GTX1660 TI VENTUS. I wonder if the stock cooler is enough for games (METRO, FAR CRY, etc ... FPS) .... thank you very much.
PS.
Only today I came across your video and I liked it, that's why I ask you.
Thank you again.

Did you have to remove the plastic mounts that was already installed on the motherboard for the stock wraith cooler? Your video skipped over that part. I also noticed you had to use some kind of back plate for the cooler. Was that part of the motherboard or included with the CPU/HSF?
