Yes I did hike it, downhill, on my very first backpacking trip when I was already exhausted from summiting Carrigain via the Signal Ridge Trail. It was dangerous because my muscles were so tired and a lot more dangerous going downhill than uphill.

It's terrifying going down, not up. The rocks on this trail are much pointier than most of the rocky trails in the Whites (different rock types). Trying to pick your way down from point to point while thinking about falling on other points is scary, man.

Have you ever hiked up the Madison gulf trail? It’s a steep rock scramble that has a brook running down the whole scramble.
