Nice clip. From a professional editor perspective, conversion is NEVER done in Lr or CO or... Always in Ps. And although the tips mentioned are awsome, with today's software almost any photo can produce a good B&W. You convert using one (or more) of the almost 20 convertion methods in Ps. Once the convertion is made, below it you can use several adjustments layers and tools, to selectively target every color present in the original shot. Allowing you to change its Hue / Saturation / Lightness, while you see in real time, the effect. Using several groups of adjustments, you can then target specific areas in your composition (skin; clothes; set; etc...).

Ive always loved BW when i was younger. It was cool and mysterious to me when I didn't know how the photographer took the BW photo. Thanks for the inspo and tricks!

Used to find bw kinda intimidating due to all these factors being kinda mixed up in my mind. After this excellent break down though I think I'll give it a try and maybe edit in bw more often! Thanks for the tips!

Thanks for video! I prefer coloured photos. I know that a lot of photographers (and sometimes me) use bw for hiding bad decisions, but it’s a awful way.
Sorry for my English :)

Think like you have a roll of B&W film in your digital camera. All you can shoot is B&W. This will train you to shoot in B&W. Set your camera or cell phone to shoot B&W in RAW. Some of us learned to think in B&W on film. We had to develop negatives and print in a dark room not in lightroom.
