Pure Synth Value! My Analog Lab V Initial Impressions

Welcome to my initial thoughts and impressions video on Arturia's Analog Lab V software! For someone like me, presets are great. I'm still very much a beginner when it comes to sound design, so having the ability to use a sound crafted by someone with much more knowledge than me is invaluable. Analog Lab V is a collection of over 7000 presets from over 30 synthesizers throughout the history of electronic music, and it is an incredible value! While you can purchase the software on its own, it also comes bundled with some of Arturia's controllers, making it an even better deal. A huge thanks to Arturia for sending me over the Keylab Essential 61 (which came with Analog Lab V), I really didn't know what I was missing out on. Enjoy the video :)

Analog Lab is a Godsend….Keylab is AMAZING. I sold my Fantom and I am working with this Maschine and MPC Live 2 exclusively.

I got the lab's intro with my keystep 37. Very impressed, and my cross grade deal for the V is $69. Seems like a no-brainer, but I'll watch your video.

The Arturia KeyLab Essential keyboard/software combo is one of the best values out there. I too bought the KeyLab keyboard not knowing about Analog Lab 5 being included. It was a very pleasant suprise

This is one of the only dedicated videos to standalone mode, please do one about the set up.

Note that if you buy a Keylab used, you also get the software. According to Arturia, the license transfers with the sale of the keyboard. When you buy the controller, contact Arturia and give them the serial number of the unit, and they will generate new license codes so you can download Analog Lab. I bought an OG Keylab49 with a defective keybed for $[really really low] and even with buying a replacement keybed from Arturia, given the Analog Lab license I came out ahead.

I’ve been waiting to buy the whole collection, but knowing myself and being honest I should probably just buy this one!:) Having access to the full setting of worlds most famous synths would be awesome. But it would probably take my whole life learning all 34!XD

Hey Bud, thanks for taking the time to do this.

Good to know it comes bundled with Arturia's controllers, a $199 value. The 9 knobs are all the control I need for most sounds, esp. when you've got 7000+ to play with! 😜

My KeyStep 37 didn't come with this, but it added to my Arturia account a special offer that takes the price down to $70. A Pigments discount too, which looks much more about sound design.

I'm torn between the Arturia Keylab49 and the M Audio Oxygen 49 Pro.. Which would you recommend? I'm more leaning towards this one just for fact that the software bundled with it is amazing value for money

Thanks for posting. Apparently like you, I am new to the synthesizer world, an I truly appreciate informed comments that "come from" a place that is closer to where I am than most content I find on You Tube. Many thanks!
But, dude! What's with the hand-held Mike while you are using a keyboard? You really need a microphone arm (Rode has a good one that I use.)
I studied piano years ago, and am just getting back into music in the electronic age, but it hurts me to watch you keyboarding with one hand tied behind your back, as it were. 😉

@Free Beat, it also came bundled with the MicroFreak and LaunchKey Mini 32.

F.B. I can highly recommend Arturia’s Pigments as well, I can see you designing and selling your sound packs for Pigments one day 👍

Eventually I’ll have to go daw and be hybrid but these days I’m still running towards dawless this seems cool tho, it sounds crazy but if I’m not mistaken phones are catching up to a lot of these daws these days

do the controller knobs sync with the software controls (so you dont't need to use the mouse)

Can the arpeggiator be synced to midi tempo from an external device while using this in standalone mode? Please, I must know. I don't want to use a DAW, but I want this keylab/computer combo to serve as a synth library standalone device.

Can I use it to create my own music, without any copyright issues

so my minilab 3 came with analog lab v intro, upgrading for $39 but brings me to 1500 total presets and not the 7k you're showing - do you know what makes that so?? thanks!
