I was not raised with any religious influence. I believe in god and have been reading in an effort to understand the Catholic faith. As a newcomer I have to say specific advice is helpful . I often feel like Catholics speak in code such as using allegory. For example; What is the difference between an 8 year olds prayer and an adults? I honestly have no idea. Thank you.

One of the best methods of prayer I ever learned was from the Islamic Sufis, who taught me to place my awareness on the heart and imagine that the heart is chanting (beating) the name of God, i.e. Je-sus, Je-sus.

A SPIRIT - who is the Father - is there with Jesus ("God is a spirit"). "HOLY" is the name given by Jesus to that "SPIRIT", in order to be able to identify Him. That "Spirit" would have no name otherwise!
Only that ONE SPIRIT (the Father) is there, NO FURTHER SPIRIT IS WITH JESUS!
"Father" (who is a spirit) and "Holy Spirit" are thus just two EQUIVALENT names.
If you wish you can replace the name "Holy Spirit" by "Father" wherever it occurs in the gospels (not in the baptismal formula, for another reason).

Turn away from your sinful ways and seek our Heavenly Father Yah for help. Ask him to send his son Yashua to be your guide and the lamp underneath your feet. Keep Yah’s Holy commandments including observing his holy Sabbath on the 7th day which is on Saturday. Seek to be sanctified and holy for he is holy. Whatever you shall ask you shall receive as long as you are walking in his statues.

The 10 Commandments
1. You shall have no other gods before Me.
2. You shall not make idols.
3. You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain.
4. Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.
5. Honor your father and your mother.
6. You shall not murder.

Praying to saints and statues is breaking the first two commandments. Observing Sunday as the Sabbath is breaking the 4th commandment.

The Catholic Church is an apostate body that was manifested even during the days of the disciples for they are the Gnostics and the ones that did not agree with the apostles teachings and therefore took it upon themselves to split off. They are even mentioned by Timothy, John and Paul.

The Catholic Church is the embodiment of a parallel sect of apostate believers who corrupted the teachings of Jesus by warping its foundation to what you see today.

The first 600 years was the ancient church. A time of gospel being preached boldly.

Over the next 900 years you have the medieval church where scripture is hidden.

Then you have the reformation church where scripture is restored.

And today we have the modern church where scripture is being blatantly ignored by Catholicism and the prosperity gospel’s for personal gain and tradition.
