What causes tooth decay? In this video Dr. Nemeth talks about what causes cavities and how to treat dental carries.

Dental Cavities are extremely common. More than 80% of Americans have at least one cavity by the time they enter their mid-30s. Cavities are one of the most common chronic diseases that affect all ages.

Carries is a tooth disease caused by bacteria.

When bad cleaning habits, plaque and time are all combined, this forms dental carries.

Plaque forms and the bacteria products disintegrate the enamel. Once the cavity penetrates the dentin, #cavities can not be stopped by regular brushing and flossing.

#Cavities , also called #toothdecay or #caries are caused by bacteria in your mouth, frequent snacking, sugary drinks and not cleaning your teeth effectively.

If a cavity is left untreated, it gets larger and affects deeper layers of your teeth. Tooth decay can cause a severe toothache, infection and tooth loss.

How can you prevent cavities?
Proper brushing and flossing
Avoid Sugary Foods
Fluoride Treatments
See your dentist regularly!

Please research what is xylitol, it will do wonders for your oral health. I am 66 years old Asian American, a mouth full of expensive dental implants. Too many dental procedures, Tissue & bone grafts, flap surgeries & replaced many metal crowns & 3 times a year periodontal cleanings, too much to list all. All of my dentists ever mentioned xylitol. Since sucking xylitol mints throughout the day for 3 months, great improvements, I will keep suckling xylitol for rest of my life. Just a few pennies a day. My heart aches for people who don't get ethical advice from their dentists. It is appalling 😢, be wise

My teeth were never Hollywood perfect but generally speaking, they were healthy until my mid 40’s during an accident.
I had numerous autografts, implants, etc & I have to admit, it’s actually slightly better than my natural teeth ever were.
Definitely costly & as much as I love my implants, I miss my natural teeth.

Doc my daughter takes really really good care of her teeth and gums but this year she went from 0 cavity to 4!!!! And mild gingivitis!!! She only 16! She was diagnosed with vit D deficiency. Is this related? She literally brushes about 6x a day bc she got Invisalign and she flosses like none of the rest of us 🤷🏻‍♀️

I really liked all information you have shared. My husband became very ill bc of root canals.
Disappointed when I heard you support the use of fluoride.
