I'm not into football much at all. A long time ago I was a bartender in Southampton and Peter used to be a regular. I didn't know who he was but we would chat a lot and he was always super funny, friendly and interesting. He'd remember what I had been talking about from weeks before. Absolute class act.

I was a teenager when he was playing regularly for England and I was never much of a fan until later in his career. It's nice to have a completely different view of him now. He was a much better player than I ever gave him credit for. His goals to game ratio for England in his initial spell in the side was unbelievable (helped a bit by that Jamaica hat-trick but still) and he had a fantastic career. What an addition he has been to the world of punditry.
