This kind a video on an experimental project idea is why I really like your channel. It's like we're learning together. I like the aerial view mode.

This video helped me refine my thinking about a one-off tool I need to make, not a cut off but the same folded flat bar will do what I need with half a ball bearing welded to it. Thanks for the inspiration!

I like the way you try new & non-traditional techniques on a regular basis.

I like the idea, it is a great way to make a cut off hardy.
I like how you explain your thought process.
Thank you for sharing.

Glad you stuck with it Glen. Recovery techniques are very helpful.

Love the video! I don’t really care about camera angles, just as long as you change-em from time to time.
Also, I’m glad you didn’t abandon the piece. I’m sure you already know that the bevel should be on the other side so it doesn’t disfigure the piece that’s getting cut off.
Big fan, love your work and videos!!
👍🏻👍🏻💥👊🏼

I had no idea where you were going with this at first, but that's pretty clever!

The overhead shot I can do without. It's not awful, but you're angles and editing have always been pretty good.

Camera angle is good if you rotate it 180°, so it looks like it's from your perspective, since that's the perspective we are all going to be working on our anvils from.

As always, you provoke interest, pleasure, and respect. Arial view in small doses is fine.
Thanks much from New Hampshire.

When I do this I make the shank long enough to fit fully through the hardy hole and I have a thin gap I hammer a small wedge in. Holds super secure and easy to remove

Automotive gears and springs are typically made of a steel known as 50CrV4 or AISI 6150. It makes a good blade steel.

Glen, I like the overhead shots! IMHO they DO add an extra dimension of sight to get a better idea of how it looks from YOUR view, giving a Smith's view to the project! ALL side views makes for a less informative video!
Do some of both in your videos and you will be fine!
THANKS for the vid/ I think I'll try making one of these as they can be a help, in some cases over a regular hot cut, which, as you stated, are hard to make!
This is a nice alternative, I think!
Thanks, again!

Hey in the end it worked out. The over head shot I'm neither for or against. It has its purpose for things.

that came out really well!

the overhead view was fine for me. I wonder if it’s be easier to see things if the camera was angled a degree or two back, away from you and to your right. dead straight on (which is how it looked to me, anyway) makes it hard to judge angles and sizes well. hope this helps.

Your version of r&d. You could make a bundle selling that anvil.
