NOTE: NO ONE IS A FAKE FAN! Normally i tend to exaggerate a lot to not take myself too seriously. Also do admit video is a bit clickbaity cuz i want people who think the Arcane s2 to bad to comr and comment to learn their opinions. I generally use shorts to gauge tthe community before releasing a full, wel thought out video on the subject matter❤❤❤

The girls are fighting while the guys are getting high. That was the best pace ever

It's fast, but it has to be when there's only going to be two seasons.

For me, it was a little bit too much information at once but I think I kept up well enough. I’m absolutely loving the season so far!

People have to remember that Season 2 picks up right after Season 1 so it's more like a continuation rather than a sequel season.

And also S1 and S2 were written TOGETHER.

That's the thing about Arcane. They can compress an entire season's story in 3 episodes by injecting music videos in each action sequence. Like how a 3 minute song can contain someone's life story, they managed to explain Ekko & Powder's history in S1, and now in S2 they managed to show what happened to Zaun after Silco died. All this off-screen fights injected as montage piled in with the dynamic fights for when it really matters leaves you feeling satisfied instead of getting blue-balled with missing out the juicy bits.

It does feel a little condensed; Using music montages to fill in the gaps that’ll take too long to animate. But we only got 9 episodes to work with. They have to wrap up this story and possibly lay the groundwork for future shows that will take place in Runeterra.

To me, it feels like too much info in too little time. I wasn't ready for it

I would recommend watching it multiple times. Because I have no life I have watched the 3 episodes of S2 3 times already and it helped me digest everything that was going on.

Should’ve made it 10 episodes in my opinion. Also 2 licensed music per episode is too much for me 😭 it’s the only thing that pulled me out. Like i get that we need to change things up so it doesn’t drag but whenever i was so invested suddenly music starts playing. Which I’m fine with, but i just love the writing of the show so much, i prefer the dialogues to the music video scenes.

that's what happens when people binge the 3 episodes and get infodumped without time to let it all sink in, try doing a rewatch yall, it will help on your perspective of the pacing, trust me.

This is a Reddit post I saw that perfectly captures my thoughts on season 2 of arcane

It's also one of the reasons why I liked Arcane S1 in the first place. There's no filler and everything is meaningful. I don't really need Vi to spend an entire episode alone moping over Caitlyn when her interactions with Jinx and Warwick are way more compelling. And the quick montages at the beginning do enough to provide exposition without spending 10 minutes on each timeskip.
Sure, it's a lot more brisk than other shows l've seen, but I think that's a positive for Arcane. You can't just sleep through it and just "get the gist" at the end by only just watching a few scenes. Everything has its place. It's dense enough with so much detail that a rewatch with hindsight is like watching a new show (it's probably why there are so many analysis and hidden details videos). S1 is slightly slower because it was setting up the dominoes (even then, it had a huge timeskip in the middle and I think that was a good decision). In S2, everything is falling into place. To where? Who knows. But so far everything has been progressing logically and deliberately so l'm not lost.

My biggest criticism is the over-reliance on musical numbers. It feels like there can be 3-4 songs with lyrics in a single episode and it feels a bit excessive since each time it happens it takes me out of the experience.

I feel like a lot of information is missing between episodes. The pacing and writing of s1 is absolutely perfect. We get to know characters completely through their s1 arcs; minor and main characters.

Whereas in s2 who the heck is the guy with the shield? He's so useless that he's regulated to a montage scene? S1 would've given us more of him. Maddie, I believe? She's Cait's fling or girlfriend. Even that relationship happens out of nowhere. S1 would've developed that relationship, ala Mel and Jayce.

I still enjoy s2, but I don't think it's a masterpiece like s1 and it definitely has flaws that s1 does not have.

the story is easy to follow, but it comes at the expense of all of the gravity in really crucial moments.

vi and cait have one interaction post breakup and caitlyn immediately helps her attack ambessa. where did all of the tension go? all of the weight behind her becoming the general, of slamming vi in the ribs and calling her no different from jinx, of trying to kill a literal child; all of this tension just evaporates after vi calls her cupcake once. it just feels sloppy.

it kind of bleeds into the action, too. that fight between jinx and the noxian dude was awesome for all of twenty seconds until it just… ends? he just stomps on her arm and that’s the end of the fight. there’s just not enough room for all of the cool things in the show

edit: was i right or was i right fellas

As a die-hard Arcane fan, I think the pacing problem in this season comes from a shift of focus from character interaction to plot/relying on a lot of exposition dumping. It's hard to put into words exactly (and Act 2 definitely got a lot better but still suffered slightly) but what made S1 feel different despite being a similar pace was that we were really being told the story primarily through character interactions, while S2 has been doing a lot of telling, not showing, making the plot feel like it's moving faster.

I feel like a lot less was happening plot wise and too much was happening *lore* wise (like background lore) if that makes any sense. So far I prefer s1 by a long shot but tbf this season is meant to tie ends together rather than introduce much so maybe that's why it feels very lacking to me. I just miss the amount of symbolism and subtle foreshadowing from s1; this season feels a bit too straightforward and overall less engaging. I do appreciate the focus on the female characters though, it's kinda rare to get an action type storyline with mainly female leads.

they had a lot to cover and the pacing went great

It's not just the sense of pacing, which you have revealed to me that I'm not alone in sensing. It also feels less careful in the presentation and order of scenes. The first season very delicately introduced elements one by one to build a bigger picture and tell a complete story from start to finish. Season 2 so far has just thrown us immediately back into the action, and it actually feels faster and more intense than any moment in the first season. It feels almost like it was made by a different team, and it feels like there is an ending they are rushing us towards.

Pacing that’s too fast is still bad pacing. Don’t get me wrong, arcane is amazing, but I could definitely feel that this was supposed to be a multi season show rather than the 2 they were regulated to.
