Does anyone else think about what their ideal society/political system/political theory would entail? No? Just me?

These musings are inspired by my studies in political philosophy and law, as well as my direct experience as a citizen of a relatively tumultuous nation. I'd love to hear your thoughts.

I say no because any political philosophy is going to have inequality along with violations of those contracts you menitoned. I think it’s about finding which one does the least amount of damage. I also feel this way based on the reality of the imperfection of human nature.

Sweet vid. Are you planning on writing any books?

You should debate curtis yarvin. It'd be nice to see him discuss political philosophy with someone who's actually read some books on the subject.

Hey, love the video and your channel in general. I was wondering what your political views are or how you would define yourself based on them. So Left/Right, authoritarian/libertarian, socialist/capitalist, communist/fascist for example. I can understand it if you dont want to answer this. If thats the case, then just want to let you know that your videos are amazing and you should keep it up!

I enjoy these ideas, and tend to subscribe to most of them idealistically (specifically in regard to freedom, truth, and charity). However; you make no mention of warfare, and I am curious to hear your response: What happens to your society when me and my gang pull up and take your shit by force? What of a neighboring warlord? How would your society handle crime and rival dominator societies?

I'm guessing you dislike violence, but do you see it as a necessary aspect of governance? Or do you think violence isn't intrinsic to the human race?

Basic universal income inevitably goes to the rich. Amazon stock went way up because the stimulus money people were spending on the site. It seems to me our economy is not set up in a way where money spent is money inevitably returned to the individual. It seems inevitable when people get an influx of money they spend it on depreciating assets. Just look at lottery winners.

Why are you holding a cup? You haven't described an ideal political system. You have just repeated political science 101. You have also thrown in some personal preferences regarding universal healthcare, education, universal basic income.

Also you made some distinctions between individuals and governments and society and government. There isn't really a distinction there. Individuals are society.

In effect, you are just describing what all government attempts to do. It's almost like you are saying, we should all just learn to get along and take care of each other, to be fair and reasonable...

Yeah, but we are dealing with reality and human beings. In college political science classes, students often think "my professors is so smart and knows everything that is wrong with the system, they should be President".

The problem is that actual politics (getting elected) isn't about who has the best ideas and most knowledge. It's about politics! Who can raise the most money, convince the most voters to vote for them, who can continue to get re-elected. Little time is actually spend on thinking about the "ideal" system or "ideal" laws for society.

It's just like in business. You may have a great idea. Maybe it's to combine salt and cholate (two things everyone loves) into a potato chip product. You think it's a great idea. However, ideas are a dime a dozen. It's the implementation that is the hard part.

Everyone can easily come up with a bunch of great ideas. How many people can turn those ideas into actual, profitable businesses? No many.

Every political science student knows that a President having a line item veto would be efficient. We know that gerrymandering district lines is wrong. We know that "big money" in politics is corrupting.

However, if you somehow managed to get elected to Congress, once you got there you would find that most of your time wasn't spent legislating. It would be spend trying to raise money for your re-election. Talking to corporate sponsors. This is why nothing gets done.
