Life after Total Hip Replacement Surgery

The total recovery period after the surgery is 3-6 Weeks. While in the hospital, patients will be asked to start walking around using a walker or crutches. Physical therapists will help you learn how to move safely with minimal pain.

Walk around as much as possible to maintain good blood flow and to prevent blood clots in your legs.

Within 3 to 6 weeks after surgery, you'll likely be able to do most light activities. You may be able to walk without a walker or crutches."

Driving: Your doctor will help you determine when it is safe to resume driving.

Sexual Activity: Depending on your condition, you may be able to resume sexual activity within several weeks after surgery.

Sleeping Positions: Doctor may ask you to avoid certain sleeping positions or to sleep with a pillow between your legs for a length of time.

Return to Work: It may take from several days to several weeks before you are able to return to work

Sports and Exercise: Continue to do the exercises prescribed by your physical therapist for at least 2 months after surgery.

it may be just me or the doctor I had but, checked in at 645 am on Feb 7 23, walked out same day between 3 4 pm. home care 2xs a wk for 2 weeks moved to cane after 2 wks.

20 days out, y incision is healed but there's still pain, the hip feels good. Trying to learn how to walk without a limp
