Is Barry a New Type of Funny?
Barry, even by the standards of dark comedy, shouldn’t make us laugh as much as it does. How has this show about everybody’s favorite hitman managed to keep us giggling even as its world falls apart? I personally LOVE the direction Barry went in this last season. It really brought together what he’s been doing the entire series.

I think the brilliance of the show is the incredible blend of the comedy and serious moments. It makes us laugh for two episodes straight, and then suddenly there is a long scene which shows how brutal and serious the themes they discuss are. Take the finale of season 2, Barry been stumbling through comedy and serious moments, and then suddenly it's all serious and emotionally gutter punch because it violates the expectations that been set. We hold our breaths waiting for the laughter track, but it never comes.

I love that they don't hid the fact that Sally although she victim of abuse she is an abuser as well

A funnier Breaking Bad. It's really post-comedy, like Nanette. The punchline is just a punch, in the end. It's not there to make you laugh, the laughter is to help you make it until the end.

Barry reminds me a lot of the darkness of “Fargo” or Jerry Orbach’s disconnected zingers at the beginning of Law & Order. It’s really impressive they’ve managed to extend it this long though.

Little spoiler for the scene with the "death we see but don't hear", that was talked about

The kill Sally does is super metal! This is the first time I've even had to think about someone being stabbed in the eye through the side of their skull. This attention to detail is shockingly mesmerising. Someone had to actually think through this entire motion in gruesome detail. The only other time I've felt like this was when the boss guy killed himself in Mr Robot and we saw the whole thing in way to realistic (maybe even practical SFX) detail

The first 2 seasons are a 50/50 comedy and drama. They dialed up the drama and dialed down the comedy in 3 to about 75/25 maybe 80/20

Barry has gone darker but they have countered that with some looney tunes AF moments.

This show is legitimately one of the best shows I've ever seen. Even an unlikable character like Sally is done so well within the show.

I can only hope that in the later seasons of Barry it doesn't follow the same steps as game of thrones did... We don't need any more falls from grace.

It is like watching the British version of the office, like it's funny but awkward and sad at the same time

"MASH" also has a pretty dark theme song. If you haven't seen the film, and heard the full version, it's called "Suicide is Painless". The chorus is "Suicide is painless, it brings on many changes, and I can take or leave it if I please."

Like breaking bad, Barry has the funniest punchlines in a dark comedy.

I have enjoyed Barry more than Killing Even and I consider these two pretty similar.

Best. Comedy. Series. Ever. Thanx for the take, but you forgot the funniest part of the concept: Barry, despite being a hitman and a killer, is probable the nicest person in Hollywood and the entertainment bussiness where most people are selfabsorbed, conceited, envious, abusive, backstabbing, egotistical, greedy and stupid!

PLEASE STOP being sponsored by BH. They're shady AF and little better than a fullblown scam. Do better. Please. I'm losing so much respect for your guys.

Better help is a scam sadly. It will only make life more depressing for us millennials.
P.S. - Therapists for Better Help are only paid 30 dollars an hour, which is not much for one on one therapy. If they talk to you for more than the 30 min, they will have very little time in between sessions.
