Being in Adam and being in Christ are direct parallels, linked by one concept – imputation. Since Adam's sin being imputed to us makes us guilty before God and under righteous punishment of eternal death (hence all those in Adam are corruptible, mortal and die), Christ's righteousness being imputed to us makes us righteous before God and heirs of eternal life (hence all those in Christ, while now corruptible, mortal and dying, will be resurrected incorruptible, immortal and will never die). If we deny that Adam, being our representative, condemned us by his sin (if we personally had nothing to do with it), we have no right to appeal to Christ, as our representative, to justify us by His righteousness (since we personally had nothing to do with it).
