To Sling is to Throw

Poor slinging habits form, and potential can be held back if people think of the sling as something other than a way to magnify throwing.

This misunderstanding usually shows up in jerky or non-fluid throwing motions and serious difficulty with accuracy.

Good slinging is fundamentally built on good throwing. Once this principle clicks, it then becomes much easier to understand and adopt the sling into what you already know. Power and accuracy follow an intuitive approach to slinging.

When reading about David and Goliath most people think David was lucky that he defeated Goliath with one slingshot to the head as if it was something difficult to do. However as one sees here a skilled slingshot marksman can easily hit what most laypeople’s believe is a miracle shot.

I mostly use the overhand, but sometimes i find myself throwing sidearm, especially if im just slinging more casually

I'd be curious for you to elaborate on the differences and hear more about your experiences. Because in my experience both overhead and sidearm require body leverage, but overhand and sidearm definitely recruit different muscles, but mainly different stabilizing muscles rather than the main groups, which remain the same (i.e. glutes, quad, obliques, etc.)

I feel like there are some skills where you need to be a natural and with no matter how much training if you’re not originally cut out for it you will never get any level of skilled at it. I’m confident I cannot do this😂
