Growing up in rural Canada I had a neighbor who kept exotic animals from an old circus. My Mom and aunt always claimed he had a full roster of retired animals on his farm. Apparently my grandfather helped him find his blind lion in the woods, and my Mom once found a leopard in the barn. By the time I was born he only had a Zebra and a flock of Peacocks. Having encountered peacocks around my farm and nearby woods it never occurred to me that peacocks weren't native to Canada until seeing this video. I always knew the birds were special but I really was lucky to have seen them as much as I did growing up.

They are very beautiful birds, I was once in Florida and there was this event where you can meet macaws and other birds it was like a jungle forest place in Florida, and there was a Peacock in a tree and it flew down, I’ve never seen a Peacock so close up in my life. There were SO many Peacocks there, females and males. There were beautiful Macaws there too! I love Peacocks!!

I worked with a pair of green peafowl. The females are similar in color to the males, but without the fancy tail feathers. The males shed their fancy long feathers after nesting season. Hey- they have already romanced the ladies, so why carry around all of the extra weight? Our male would still fan out his tail to impress our female when he only had a few scraggly-looking tail feathers left. She was not impressed. They did have a pair of chicks during the third year that I worked with them, and she was a VERY protective mamma!

Peacock the national bird of India.
In Tamilnadu, the southern most state in India, peacock is highly respected worshiped along with Lord muruga the ancient God...

Here in my hometown coimbatore, peacocks are everywhere.. Easily one can see... None dare to harm or hunt it.. Instead all of us cherish its beautiful and prosperity.. But the farmers would suffer while they start expedition in grain field.. Paddy field.. But, none dares harming..if anyone did they are imprisoned and fine under wildlife protection Act, and protection of endangered species Act, and protection of nation al bird act. And so many acts like that
