Greenland! The other 2020 disaster movie. Something I didn't even realize I was doing until it was too late to turn back! But it's not the schlocky movie you were probably expecting, so let's talk about it! Here's everything right with Greenland!

My favourite bit of the movie is how they portrayed the armed forces, doctors and nurses etc they were all just people doing their best knowing they were all going to die and not showing them being the bad guys.

I really want a kaiju movie shot like this, less about the military trying to stop it and more about people trying to get away as fast as they can before they get crushed.

man this entire movie is like, my biggest fear.
Just knowing that you are going to die and there is NOTHING you can do about it
Thanks, i hate it

I think it hit harder because the mass deaths were not spectacle... 2012 all I really remember from it is the crazy plane flying through the collapsing city. This film has humanity, from the needless death of the guys in the back of the truck, to the FIL staying at his home, because it's his home.

14:00 I imagine that so few unauthorized planes have even made it this far, and the bunkers are probably under-capacity, so the local soldiers who probably aren't even receiving orders from the mainland anymore are like "F*ck it, they made it this far, they deserve to be let in."

The FEMA guy, the nurse, "the shotgun looter", the soldier and the guy in the back of the truck that was friendly, all felt genuine and not forced which is hard to do sometimes.

I really hope that soldier in the beginning that was able to spot that it wasn't his parents was able to survive, I wanted to give him a big hug. 💙

Fun Fact! At 1:23 this isn’t the Aurora borealis it’s actually atmospheric lighting called sprites!! This lighting forms from strong thunderstorms and reaches into the atmosphere!!

One thing I loved about this movie is it's portrayal of Type 1, being diabetic it was nice to see a movie do it right, it is very realistic and I could recognize the symptoms the kid was having even without anyone saying anything, and it felt like the director really knew his stuff, which he did since his wife is diabetic.

That moment when the kid said "They're not my parents" just got me. It was so much responsibility for a 7 year old and to be able to communicate he was in trouble to people who could help was impressive. idk, that seen got me.

Don't you just love it how depressed humanity has gotten over the last 20 years? We went from "don't worry about that asteroid, we will send up a team of all american oil drillers, and nuke the sumbitch", to "gee, I hope we make it to the shelter, before that thing hits earth". We have come a long way since the high spirits of the 90's, and those two asteroid movies really show the difference im mentality.

Greenland is quite possibly my favorite recent movie, and definitely my favorite disaster movie

When I watched it with my husband, I said "If we had watched this two years ago, I would have said there were no way people would be this selfish and simply... bad in an apocalypse. But I've seen people fight over toilet paper last year, so..."

"We got some real humans in this movie" - That's what made Greenland genuinely a great little flick.

Fun fact. The last large extra terrestrial impacts actually hit Greenland. The impact location is called the Hiawatha crater.

3:10 I was actively sobbing at this part in the movie. I knew what was going to happen to that poor girl and I the viewer was powerless to watch the sadness
