Minute English #513: Hate Speech

“Are you sure?” Today, we will be dealing with a question: Is hate speech evil? Hate speech is defined as "abusive or threatening speech or writing that expresses prejudice against a particular group, especially on the basis of race, religion, or sexual orientation.” So, is hate speech evil? What if you were writing about (and condemning) evil actions that a group of people had done in the past? Is that hate speech? Is it evil to write about the evils that a group did? Here’s another question: how do you define evil? And if something is evil, is that bad? What’s the problem with evil?
