The accident involving TAM Flight 3054 was the last major incident in Brazilian commercial aviation. For 17 years, there were no large-scale occurrences in the country. However, ending this interim, on Friday, August 9, 2024, Voepass Flight 2283 crashed into a residential area in Vinhedo, São Paulo, resulting in the deaths of 62 people and one dog; becoming the fifth largest commercial aviation accident in Brazilian history.

The air craft had revers thrust issues with the second engine causing the pilots to get confused and actually leave it at full power forgetting that it was only the reverse thrust that did not work.

O Brasil estava passando por uma crise aérea, então as empresas passaram a decolar com aviões cheio de combustível pois era mais barato, além de com a crise muitas coisas foram apressadas como treinamentos de pilotos e manutenções na pista de congonhas.
O avião em questão estava com o reversor direito quebrado, o procedimento padrão de pouso com falha no reversor é levar as duas manetes de potência na posição de freio, porém o piloto tinha a intenção de deixar a manete do reversor quebrado sem potência e a outra freando, tudo bem até ai, porém com a chuva e as preocupações no pouso o piloto não se atentou que a manete do reversor quebrado estava acelerando, com um motor acelerando e outro freando o computador do Airbus A320 não identificou que era um pouso e os sistemas de freio não foram ativados como spoilers e freios de rodas, o avião sem freio cruzou a pista em 10 segundos varou o aeroporto e caiu no prédio da empresa matando 12 pessoas em solo e 187 no avião sendo um total de 199 vítimas.
Então imagina a pista curta com a manutenção irregular no meio da maior cidade do Brasil, o piloto com pouco treinamento pousando sem um reversor e o avião cheio de combustível na chuva, foi tudo tão rápido que nem deu tempo de arremeter, esse foi o pior acidente da aviação Brasileira e do Airbus A320.

My dad was at the terminal area and he saw the whole crash from the airport. The airport now has an extended runway above the city to avoid accidents like this. Rest In Peace to the people who died

I'm Brazilian and my uncle worked in the building and he broke 3 ribs because he jumped to avoid dying, but today he's fine. I feel sad just remembering that I was at the airport and saw the situation It was very sad and the noise was very loud, I still cry today remembering it. 😢😢

Brazil was going through an air crisis, so companies started to take off with planes full of fuel because it was cheaper, in addition to the crisis, many things were rushed, such as pilot training and maintenance on the Congonhas runway.
The plane in question had a broken right reverser, the standard landing procedure with reverser failure is to place both power levers in the brake position, however the pilot had the intention of leaving the broken reverser lever without power and the other braking, so far so good, but with the rain and concerns about landing, the pilot did not notice that the broken reverser lever was accelerating, with one engine accelerating and the other braking, the Airbus A320's computer did not identify that it was a landing and the brake systems were not activated such as spoilers and wheel brakes, the plane without brakes crossed the runway in 10 seconds, went through the airport and crashed into the company building, killing 12 people on the ground and 187 on the plane, with a total of 199 victims.
So imagine the short runway with irregular maintenance in the middle of the largest city in Brazil, the pilot with little training landing without a reverser and the plane full of fuel in the rain, everything was so fast that there wasn't even time to go in, that was the worst Brazilian aviation and Airbus A320 accident.
