Not long ago, Ji Yoon, the legendary South Korean pop idol, shocked the world by signing up for the Mech Arena League, with the callsign “Nova”. The only thing that surprised people more than Nova entering the Arena… was that she won. Winter Moon Music, the company that managed Ji Yoon’s singing career, was suspected of fixing matches, and Nova got pulled off the roster while the United Nations Intersolar Trade Commission could audit Winter Moon.

The results just went public, and they’re shocking. First shock? Ji Yoon might be a pop star, but she’s apparently also a heck of a pilot. All her wins were her own. Winter Moon didn’t fix a single match.

Second shock? Ji Yoon is a clone. Winter Moon Music didn’t just manage her, they owned her, down to her DNA. Human rights violations abounded as scandal after scandal came to light. After that string of revelations, Winter Moon has been shut down, its CEOs imprisoned, and its assets liquidated… which leaves Ji Yoon free as a bird, just in time for the Lunar New Year.

According to Ji Yoon herself, the Lunar New Year has always been her favorite holiday - the beautiful traditions and its association with the coming spring never fail to make her smile. This time, it must be taking on new meaning for her, as she plans to use the holiday to re-enter the Mech Arena as her own woman.

Now in total control of her brand, Ji Yoon has wasted no time. She’s already made collaboration deals with New Flashpoint Armory and Excelsior Heavy Industries so she can return in style, armed with Flashpoint’s new Gauss Rifle Weapon and Excelsior’s experimental Tengu Mech. The Lunar New Year is always a big time for the Arena, but this year? It’s going Nova.
