I agree with Tom. It suffers from the same problems Kitchen Rush does. The base game already gives you A LOT to work with. Solo variants, different winning conditions based on number of players, different difficulty levels, etc. Even if you love the game and play it often you still won't need all these new stuff...

I find the ghoul to be a very good introduction character alongside the thief. When playing with either/both, as well as the knight, you can have a sort of Lighter rules affair (I believe you can ignore the forced movement rules, which can be a little tricky to explain alongside everything else)

Glad the expansion is getting some attention! I’ve only played against the shadow unicorn in solo but had fun with it. Looking forward to trying the other roles out soon

Haha, I ordered the whole bundle: The Crystal Caverns, The Fearsome Foes, the extra cards and the minis. Now I must be patient. Any other games you fellow gamers could recommend while waiting for Vast?

Hmmm.. just what this game needed. A bunch of characters with even more new rules and mechanisms to learn.

Can't the Shadow Unicorn replace the Dragon?

The flavor text at the top of the unicorn's board is meant to be read to the tune of a certain franchise theme. Just sayin'...
