Rain skirts are underrated. Much prefer them over pants. I always use a large hippack when hiking and if it starts raining heavy it is very easy to place over the hippack and stopping my phone etc getting wet. I also use it in my tent porch for kneeling etc.

This was really helpful! Such a good review (by two “experienced” adults!). Immediately subscribed! Question: Would it be possible to strap this on over the hip belt pockets of your backpack to better protect them during a rain (kind of like a mini-poncho for your hip belt pockets)? Thanks!

I own that rain skirt/kilt and it iS much easier to put on than my rain pants, and more often than not, it's served as a ground cloth. Great for a hike, but a few overnighters, I'd want rain pants to go over my down or fleece pants so they don't get wet, and with full length side zippers for easy on/off (on my wish list 🎅😝👍)
