It needs to be plugged in for a jump start? It's a chargeable battery. Why can't it be used while unplugged, like any other battery?

Hi these units are built fairly solid and should last a while IF you don’t abuse it.

I charged battery to 100 then did alternator test. It gave 87. I’m interpreting this as alternator not charging, correct?
