This worked for me as I’m building an EBike. Trying to hammer it with a rubber hammer was a fail because the shocks kept absorbing the hits lol. Thank you for saving me a headache!

Have a road bike with 1” threadless steerer, all working fine, headset without issues etc - however realised I may have installed a 1-1/8th star nut instead of a 1” specific … the steerer is steel so assuming if the nut went it prob won’t have damaged the tube - would you recommend leaving it in there?

Calvin it would be neat to see a video about your techniques to remove a star nut in those rare instances when that's called for.

How about a video on installing suspension?

Older Video I know.
Why not use a bike stand/clamp to hold the steerer tube, then grip the steerer tube with your off hand as well as you do the initial set?
That would be setting against a more rigid hold. Of course, would need to be able to brace with the second hand so it does not pound out of the bike stand clamp.

The vice tap is great too.

I have road carbon forks with an aluminum steerer tube with a star nut in it. I've had the bike for years. I'd like to push it down a few cm and cut off the excess fork. Do i just whack the star nut lower with a hammer and some kind of stick?

What if you run a ton of spacers above the stem? Would that change how deep you insert the star nut?
