i think that simplicity is key when ure sending the beat to an artist, but when their vocals are done its good to go back and "overcomplicate" with automations and shit

the reason +3, -8 works well is because by going up 3 from the root note you play a minor third interval which is the second note in your chord. Then when you go down 8 you reach the fifth of your chord which also happens to be the root of the next chord.
